Accounting Administrator – Part time-Permanent (St. John’s)

Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Finance, provide financial, operational and administrative support.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains all financial records including accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll
- Reconciles bank statements, prepares and delivers bank deposits
- Prepares preliminary statements for inclusion in quarterly combined financial statements
- Post adjusting entries as required
- Balances inter-program and cash clearing accounts
- Assists in annual audit
- Maintains and reconciles petty cash
- Prepares monthly remittances and reports including withholding taxes, union dues and pension
- Prepares T-4s and Workers Compensation Annual Statements
- Manages cash flow
- Tracks annual leave entitlement for office staff
- Provides general reception and administrative duties
- Engages in professional development as required
- Contributes to the orientation/training of staff/interns/volunteers
- Maintains inventory and purchases supplies as required
- Shares responsibility for maintaining a safe, secure environment for both staff and clients
- Performs other related duties as required
Qualifications:
- Two-year diploma in Business Administration or Business Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum two-years experience in the accounting field.
- Proven competency in Sage Accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Able to manage time effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Multilingual skills and multicultural competence are an asset.
- Certificate of conduct.
- Enhanced reliability check.

Rate of Pay: As per the collective agreement the rate of pay for this position is $21:45 per hour. (Rated by JJEC Sept 2020)
