Eligibility
Net-Work aims to assist income support recipients in the province. Priority is given to referrals for individuals living outside the St. John’s metro region. An individual must be currently receiving income support in order to qualify for the program.
Program Description
Participants enrolled in the Net-Work program will attend a 30 session pre-employment program created by the John Howard Society of NL (JHS-NL), over a 10 week period. Each session is 2.5 hours in length and occurs three times a week over Zoom.
Net-Work will cover essential pre-employment skills such as digital literacy, time management, job search skills, self presentation, teamwork, disclosing past offenses effectively, life skill training, maintaining employment, career exploration and many other topics in great depth. The program is group orientated.
The added advantage to this pre-employment program is that it is readily available to people in rural and remote areas, where employment programs are less abundant and available. The curriculum itself is created with this in mind, making it relevant and effective for job seekers navigating the job market in small communities across the province. Participants receive a $175 completion bonus at the end of the program.
Referral
Referrals are accepted from individuals themselves, parole officers, probation officers, classification officers, social workers, counsellors and/or family members. All participants are assessed through an interview process.
